Effect of the project teaching method on clinical teaching outcomes in undergraduate nursing students interning in neurosurgery ICU

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of the project teaching method (PTM) on clinical teaching outcomes in undergraduate nursing students in neurosurgery ICU.Methods Forty undergraduate nursing students interning in our department from 2014 to 2015 were divided into two groups,i.e.observed group in which 20 students were taught by PTM and control group in which 20 students were taught by traditional clinical teaching method.The teaching outcomes were analyzed in both the groups.Results The specialized and basic theory scores,professional English test scores,basic and qualified specialized operating rate and clinical teaching satisfaction rate were significantly higher in the observed group than those in the control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion The clinical teaching outcomes can be enhanced by PTM in the undergraduate nursing students interning in neurosurgery ICU.
