Abstract:Objective To explore the curative effects of modified lumbar cistern continuous drainage (mLCCD) of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) on CSF leakage after the lumbar spinal surgery and its safety. Methods Of 102 patients with lumbar spinal lesions undergoing lumbar spinal surgery from May,2013 to May,2016,12 had CSF leakage and 90 not.The clinical data of those 12 patients with CSF leakage undergoing mLCCD were analyzed retrospectively. Results Of 12 patients with CSF leakage,11 were cured and 1 was transferred to another hospital according to the patient's family member's request 3 days after the beginning of mLCCD.The duration of mLCCD ranged from 3 to 7 days (mean,5.13 days). Conclusions The curative effect of mLCCD of CSF on CSF leakage after the lumbar spinal surgery and its safety are good. This technique is worthy of clinical application.
