Application of transcranial color Doppler ultrasonography to diagnosis of dural arteriovenous fistulas

Abstract：Objective To explore the value of transcranial color Doppler ultrasonography (TCCD) to the diagnosis of dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs).Methods The hemodynamics of neck and intracranial vessels were detected by TCCD in 89 patients with DAVFs which were definitely diagnosed as by DSA.The outcomes of TCCD were compared with those of DSA.Results DAVFs were definitely diagnosed as by the TCCD in 56 patents (63％,56/89),and suspected in 17 (19％,17/89).TCCD did not find any abnormalities in 16 patients (18％,16/89).Conclusion TCCD is a non-invasive method to assess the hemodynamic of DAVFs preoperatively and assess the curative effect of endovascular embolization on DAVFs.
