Experimental Study of Pathogenesis of Pulmonary Injurise Following Head Trauma
Abstract:Objective To investigate the pathogenesis of pulmonary injuriesinduced by inspiration of gastric acid after head trauma. Methods,Acidic inspiration damage to the lungs was performed in rats by injection of hydrochloric acid into the trachea after brain trauma induced by weight-drop technique. The protein content and the levels of SOD, MDA, TNF and IL-8 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were subsequently measured. Results In BALF the protein content was signific-antly increased, the SOD level decreased while the levels of MDA, TNF3 and IL-8 were markedly elevated in rats following acid inspiration. Histopathologic examination showed significant pulmonary hemorrhage, edema infiltration of massive polymorp-honeuclear leucocytes and further damage to the brain tissues in the rats with inspiratory pulmonary injury.,Conclusions,Acid inspiration following head truama not only can directly cause damage to the pulmonary tissues, but also provoke the production of TNF and IL-8, accumulation of PMN in the lung tissue, and indirectly aggravate the brain injury.
