The Effect of Macrophages on Activities and Proliferation of Astrocytes in vitro
Abstract：Objective To study the influence of macrophages on the activitiesand proliferation of astrocytes in vitro. Methods, Several kinds of macrophages-conditioned media (MΦCM) were prepared and acted upon the cultured astrocytes for 24 hours, then the activities and proliferation of these astrocytes were examined by MTT technique. Results The result of this experimental study demonstrated that among the various media prepared, only the degenerated myelin-activated MΦCM (M-MΦCM) could significantly enhance the astrocyte activity and promote the cell proliferation. Conclusions, Maybe M-MΦCM contains certain factors which can enhance the activities and proliferation of astrocytes. The result suggested that these macrophages probably produced some mitogenic factors when the degenerated myelins were,phagocytized by them
