Severe Head Injury Complicated by Multiple System Organ Failure in Children
Abstract:Objective To summarize the therapeutic experiences in themanagement of patients with severe head injury complicated by mutiple system organ failure (MSOF) .Methods,Data of 98 children with severe head injury including those whose head were exceedingly injured complicated by MSOF were retrospectively analyzed.Results,The total survival rate of this series of patients was 27.55% (27/98). Among them favourable result (but there were some patients with moderate disability) was obtained in 24 (24.5%); severe disability was seen in 3 cases. The total mortality was 72.45% (71/98) in those with severe MSOF. Conclusions There was a positive relationship between the occurrence of MSOF and the severity of brain injury. Active removal of causative agents and prevention of the occurrence of MSOF were of key importance to reducing the morality and improving the life quality of the patient.
