Abstract:Industrialized large-cluster horizontal wells have become a critical approach for the efficient development of deep coalbed methane(CBM)reservoirs. However, the inherent chal-lenges posed by complex microstructures and strong heterogeneity in deep coal reservoirs result in significant three-dimensional wellbore displacement and difficulties in trajectory control, which severely limit the reservoir drilling encounter rates. To address these challenges, this study focuses on the No.8 deep coal reservoir(burial depth of 1 950-2 550 m)in the Jiaxian Block, located in the northeastern margin of the Ordos Basin.A seismic-geological engineering integrated guidance technology is proposed, leveraging high-precision 3D seismic-geological modeling, trajectory prediction, and real-time optimization during drilling. The proposed workflow includes high-precision 3D modeling of the reservoir system to finely characterize its spatial distribution and optimize well placement strategies;real-time tracking and dynamic up-dates of measurement—logging—positioning data during drilling, enabling layer-by-layer com-parison of marker beds, iterative 3D model refinement, and the selection of optimal wellbore inclination angles to ensure accurate target landing;and post-target-entry fine trajectory con-trol in the horizontal section using differential trajectory strategies, drill bit positioning,three-dimensional attitude constraints, and near-bit gamma-ray orientation logging. The application of this integrated guidance technology in a pilot test of eight wells within the Jiaxian Block re-sulted in a significant improvement, with the drilling rate of coal seams increasing to 98.3%.These results demonstrate the potential of the seismic-geological engineering integrated guid-ance technology to address key challenges in the development of deep CBM reservoirs, offering a scalable and efficient solution for industrial applications.
