Abstract:Methane explosion often occurs during the process of fire zone sealing in the workface due to the coexistence of methane and heat source. In order to discuss methane explosion hazard when fire zone sealing, the methane explosion limits influenced by fire smoke were studied with a model based on thermal balance. The model of methane explosion risk evolution influenced by CO2 and CO was developed, the variation of gases distribution during sealing process was simulated with FLUENT,and methane explosion hazard also has been discussed. The results show that the methane explosion limits vary with the concentration of smoke components. The lower explosion limit is hardly influenced by variation of carbon monoxide concentration, mean while the upper explosion limit is mostly influenced by the variation of carbon dioxide concentration. The methane explosion area enlarges when combustion state changing from oxygen enriched combustion to fuel enriched combustion during the sealing process, and the position and time of methane explosion in the sealing process have also been obtained from the research.
