The evolution of ejective folds and their influence on coal and gas outburst
Abstract:The effect of ejective folds on coal and gas outburst in the Shuicheng mine area was studied. The evolution of ejective folds and their influence was studied using theoretical analysis and local field investigations. Early faults and Yanshan period compression has resulted in ejective folds within the area. An anticline caused coal and gas loss and a syncline caused coal and gas preservation. The coal bearing strata were destroyed during the ejective fold formation because inter layer sliding, and sliding along fractures, occurred as the tectonic coals formed. Extrusion under stress formed gas sealing structures where gas concentrations are enriched. Near the syncline shaft the coal and gas outburst is more serious.
