Stability and failure analysis of roof anchors in a deep mine gateway
Abstract：Field studies in the Guhanshan mine were done to determine the failure mechanism of roof anchors used in a deep mine gateway. Instability of the roof, distortion failure of the an- chor, and different forms of roof failure are considered. A roof bolting with cable anchor scheme was the support model used. The bolt and cable coupling was analyzed from roof stabil- ity data. Reasonable parameters for the bolts and coupled cables provide a roof separation less than 25 mm and a roof to floor or side to side deformation less than 180 mm. This shows that the bolt and coupled cable support design is beneficial for stabilizing the rock surrounding the gateway
