Effect of properties of materials on solids distribution in a binary mixture liquid-solid fluidized bed
Abstract:Taking the mixture of quartz sand fine coal with narrow size and density distribution as experimental materials, the fluidization tests were completed at different conditions in a la- boratory-scale liquid-solid fluidized bed. The results show that the necessary condition to mix completely and inverse-layer is that the free settling velocity of light particles should be larger than that of heavy particles. A criterion is proposed to judge whether the complete mix could occur. The binary mixture could mix completely when the ratio value (ρe1/ρe2)/(d2/d1) is bigger than 1.5, and the larger the ratio is, the easier the mix occurs.
