Influence of high mining velocity on periodic weighting during fully-mechanized mining in a shallow seam
Abstract:The Huojitu coal mine is used to develop measurements and theoretical analysis relat- ed to periodic weighting during fully-mechanized mining at high velocities in a shallow seam. High mining velocities are shown to increase the continuous length roof weight although the support and dynamic load coefficients are only modestly affected. The time effect on damage deformation in the surrounding rock is the source of roof weighting dependence on mining ve- locity. High velocities exceed the rate of roof collapse, which requires more rotating movement to realize roof stability, consequently increasing the required continuous length weight.
