Linear least squares method of predicting subsidence over partially mined flat seams
Abstract：A new method to predict subsidence over partial mining of a flat seam is proposed. It is based upon a mechanism of strata movement and the symmetry of the basin in a flat seam. Subsidence survey data were compiled and a computer program was used to fit a linear equation to the data. Survey data from the Qianling coal mine were used to validate the method. Subsid- ence curve above the 411 face was predicted by the linear equation based on the sabsidence sur- vey date above the 415 and 413 faces. The error compared to the measured values was ~ 16 mm.
