A case study of micro-seismic monitoring. goal water-inrush dynamic hazards
Abstract:Mining safety can be improved by more effective monitoring for water inrush in the goaf. To this end, the relative effect of monitoring micro-seismic events has been analyzed. A theory of energy emission rate and energy spatial density is proposed to compensate for a defi- ciency of micro-seismic activities in both time and space. A monitoring method using partitio- ning and time sharing is proposed, which indicates reasonable monitoring and prevention meas- ures are needed to cope with water inrush hazards and these should be based upon different pe- riods of time and different zones in the goaf. A case study showed that warning of a pending water inrush event exists in the micro-seismic data. The total energy, the number of events, and the energy emission rate all increase before the water inrush event. The energy emission rate of micro-seismic events can be used to analyze the micro-seismic activity in time and the en- ergy spatial density in space.
