Numerical simulation of the evolution of the pressure arch during coal mining
Abstract:Stress transfer and changes in the rock surrounding a pressure arch are discussed.Numerical and analog material models are presented. The pressure arch in the adjoining rock after coal mining is seen to be approximately egg shaped and a closed, thick wall structure. The long axis is in the direction of the working face and the short axis perpendicular to it.As the driven distance of the working face increases the inner boundary of the pressure arch extends outwards and its body becomes thicker.Stresses in the arch body simultaneously increase.
