Research on instability of the triangular coal alongside the goaf in a fully mechanized top-coal caving work face
Abstract:A mechanical model has been constructed of the triangle block beside the goaf of the number 8907 fully mechanized caving face of the first Guoyang coal mine. The model is based upon the end roof breaking found there. It appears that the triangle region has been affected by mining subsidence of this, and the adjacent, working face.Stress is concentrated at the juncture of the elastic-plastic areas. The ability to affect end-roof control is enhanced by the analysis of the mechanical model. It is also seen that different sized chain pillars influence the stress distribution in the rock surrounding the end triangle block. The stability of this rock next to the goaf is so affected.Increasing the coal pillar size from twelve to twenty meters controls the instability of the triangle coal. The scheme of grouting strengthening the triangle coal and its surrounding rock by marison under the condition of 12 m coal pillar, and the result of industrial test on 81101 working face is satisfied.
