Abstract:Based on the study of the tribological properties of plasma sprayed N16OA/M0S2 composite coating, the formation and self-repairing mechanism of MoS2 lubricating film were investigated, and the factors influencing M0S2 lubricant film formation process and its lubrication and anti-wear properties were discussed. A physical model for describing the process of the lubricating film formation and destruction was proposed. Results show that the formation of the MoS2 lubricating film can be classified into four stages, including the initial friction stage, anchoring stage of M0S2 on sliding surface, covering stage of the sliding surface by M0S2, and the formation stage of MoS2 film. The destruction process of the composite lubricating film includes decreasing of film thickness, emerging of crack, propagation of crack, and detachment of the lubricating film. The hard particles are able to micro-cut the lubricating film, resulting in scratch and abrasion destruction of the lubricating film and hence its lifespan was cut in a- bout half.
