Abstract:A novel three-phase localization method for coal mine wireless sensor networks is presented based on LQI and Takane's non-metric MDS.To address the problems brought by severe natural conditions of coal mine, the whole localization process is divided into three pha-ses:regional localization,multi-dimensional scaling and precise localization.By fusing the lo-calization data,an accurate position coordinate of moving targets under coal mine is obtained e-ventually. We set up a ZigBee network and conduct our experiments in a real air-raid shelter tunnel to simulate coal mine environment. The experimental results show that the localization error of the metric MDS algorithm is less than that of metric MDS algorithms. The three-phase localization method solves the low localization accuracy problems which caused by harsh vapors and the complex geological structure in coal mine.
