Abstract:Without destroying the inner structure of soil samples, the Computer Tomography (CT)testing technology can be used to observe the change of parameters in samples. Two kinds of silty clay samples made by different freezing types were scanned by this technology. Some conclusions can be drawn from the change of pre-and-post CT number and the extent of re-distribution of water content and dry density in a sample can be got quantificationally.Dif-ferent ways of freezing have different effects on those initial standard samples. It can cause dif-ferent extent of impact and trend of change, correspondingly. The axial freezing process has little influence on dry density and water content distribution than triaxial freezing process.
