Abstract:The stress distribution and regions of plastic deformation in working panel number 8902 were calculated with FLAC~(3D).Field geological data and gateway deformation were sur-veyed in the same working panel. The gateway deformation between roof and floor is 1985 mm and the deformation between the ribs is 1 877 mm.The cross-section of the gateways is less than 2 m~2,which seriously affects productivity.Support of the gateways may be achieved by rational layout of the stope drift of active workings and by decreasing the width of the barrier pillar between the working panels.
