Abstract:The evolution of additional strain in a shaft lining was obtained by automatic monito-ring in a mine of more than ten shaft linings over a period of more than six years. The meas-ured strain was fitted to several typical curves. The results show that the vertical strain increa-ses at rates from 0.015×10~(-6)d~(-1) to 0.068×10~(-6)d~(-1). The value of the temperature strain wave increased from 27×10~(-6) to 88×10~(-6). The characteristic interaction between the shaft lining and the surrounding soil was obtained. Thermal stress is inherent. It can not induce rup-ture of the lining but it can accelerate the rupture process. Gradually increasing additional stress is the essential reason for lining rupture.
