Forecasting Tunnel Vault-Growth Settlement with a Yushi Four Parameter Model

Abstract:Vault-growth settlement was fit to time using actual data from five field testing tun-nel sites. The model was used to predict settlement. A Yushi four parameter model was used for fitting. The fit precision was good, with correlation coefficients of 0.98955 to 0.999 35 (average 0.996 102). The four parameter model is a better fit than a hyperbolic model. The average, absolute error between predicted and observed values was 4.019 05%. In the tails, the error was 0.623 48%. The four parameter model is adaptable and accurate and provides a good fit of vault-growth to time. The resulting model may be used to forecast tunnel settle-ment.
