Abstract:The radius of the residual strength zone was derived from an elastic-plastic analysis of the surrounding rock. The residual strength zone was grouted and divided into an elastic-and a plastic-zone. A creep model of a bolt-grouting support structure was developed from the Poynt-ing-Thomson model and the hypothesis of constancy of volume. The formulations for displace-ment and stress in the creep model were derived by viscoelastic and viscoplastic analysis. Theo-retical analysis and analogue simulations show that for the elastic zone of the bolt-grouting sup-port structure within a soft rock roadway stress is unrelated to time. The plastic zone, howev-er, suffers changes in the distribution of stress over time. Displacement increases with time and tends to a final displacement value in the elastic-and plastic-zones. The displacement is inverse-ly proportional to the radius within the plastic zone.
