Abstract:For the variety and complexity of orientation parameters and their reciprocity, it is complicated to formulize the residual errors of image positioning when GCPs are used in adjust-ment and also difficult to give us a visual apperception on the errors through formulation. In this paper, based on rigorous photogrammetric processing, the regularity of the positioning re-sidual errors(PREs), caused by errors that are existed in some orientation parameters and cor-rected by modifying their correlative parameters, was studied by computer simulation under different imaging conditions, and the results were shown by graphs. The given quantitative a-nalysis method is a effective tool for research on satellite image rectification, image positioning model, block adjustment, correlation and correlation reduction of orientation parameters, and the size and distribution graph of PREs obtained by the simulation can give these researchers intuitionistic reference.
