Determination of Dynamic V-A Characteristic Parameters of Inductive Intrinsically Safe Circuits

Abstract：The separating speed between two electrodes of International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) spark-test apparatus was calculated,and the arc length between two separating electrodes was confirmed. Parameters of dynamic V-A characteristics of intrinsically safe(IS) circuits were determined by numerical method. The results show that in the scope of arc discharge time of IS circuits the separating speed between two electrodes increases sinusoidally, which has a maximum value of 2 000 cm/s other than a constant value of 25 cm/s. Besides,a new type expression of arc resistance was established in order to simulate the course of arc discharge by using computer.
