Abstract:The quality of spatial data in GIS and their quality evaluation have become one of the frontiers of GIS technologies. Based on the information theory, the idea about the quality indexes of overall data was proposed. It is believed that the conditional entropy can be used for evaluating the comprehensive quality of data sets. Furthermore, a model of uncertain band of error entropy was developed and verified by spatial data quality evaluation of arc and polygon data. The BOS (buffer-overlay-statistics) evaluating method was discussed emphatically from experiments on mining maps.
