Abstract:Having such properties, in a finite range of [0,1], as monotonic decreasing, unimodal distribution, and monotonic increasing, the β-distribution function with 2 or 3 parameters was used in describing the distribution model of coal particles different in density in a jig bed. The basic range of model parameters and the values of some of the parameters were determined through simulating the experimental data. The result shows that the parameters of the distribution model of particles with little difference in density are correlated. And the small fitting error shows the validity of the distribution shape, described by β-distribution function, of particles with different densities in a jig bed . For the n ranks of density, only 2n-2 parameters are needed, which is quite favorable for predicting the stratification of particles in a jig bed.
