Noninvasive Positive Pressure Ventilation for Stable Patients with Advanced Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (review)

Abstract:The addition of long-term noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) to a pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program in stable patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can enhance the effects of PR, continuely improve exercise tol-erance and dyspnea, stabilize pulmonary function, enhance health-related quality of life. Moreover, it maybe improve the prognosis of the pa-tients with COPD. This article introduced the implement of the combination of PR and NPPV in stable patients with advanced COPD.
