Effect of Nerve Mobilization on Sciatica in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation
Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of nerve mobilization on sciatica in patients with lumbar disc herniation. Methods 46 pa-tients with lumbar disc herniation were divided into treatment group (n=23) and control group (n=23). The control group received conven-tional rehabilitation treatment, the treatment group received nerve mobilization everyday in addition for 1 month. The score of Visual Ana-logue Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association score (JOA score) were observed before and after treatment. Results There was no significant difference in the score of VAS and JOA between 2 groups before treatment (P>0.05). The score of VAS was significantly lower (P<0.001), and the JOA score was significantly higher (P<0.001) in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment. Conclu-sion The nerve mobilization is effective on sciatica in patients with lumbar disc herniation.
