Abstract:Objective Ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP)is a common and serious complication in neurocritical care. This study systematically evaluates the current research status and trends in this field through bibliometric methods. Methods Using the Web of Science Core Collection database as the literature data source,we searched for literature published from 1992 to 2025 on ventilator-associated pneumonia in neurocritical care.VOSviewer and CiteSpace are used to visualize the included literature in terms of publication volume and citation frequency, collaboration and co-citation,keyword clustering and bursting. Results A total of 406 articles were included. The annual number of publications has increased steadily, with a significant acceleration since 2010.The United States led in terms of publication volume(160 articles),citation frequency(5 033 times),and total link strength(TLS=677),followed closely by Italy and Germany.University of Basel(TLS=101),Heldenberg University(TLS=89)and Mayo Clinic(TLS=41)are the core research institutions in this field.Marsch Stephan(TLS=191)and Sutter Raoul(TLS=191)were identified as highly influential scholars.Critical Care Medicine(TLS=48 571),Stroke(TLS=33 378),Neurocritical Care(TLS=33 062)were the core journals in this field.Keyword clustering analysis showed that research hotspots in this field focus on neurocritical care, acute respiratory failure, brain related diseases/conditions,and artificial intelligence.Keyword bursting analysis suggested that previous research has mainly focused on the disease field represented by brain injury, and the current research paradigm has shifted from exploring specific diseases to systematically analyzing the predictors and risk factors of VAP in neurocritical care.It is worth noting that since 2016,ventilator-associated pneumonia has become a continuous research frontier in this field. Conclusions In the field of neurocritical care, the research on ventilator-associated pneumonia shows an upward trend, and the international multi-center cooperation network is also constantly expanding. The deep integration of artificial intelligence technology and the collaborative promotion of interdisciplinary research are expected to provide crucial support for the establishment of early accurate diagnosis system and optimization of prevention and control strategies for ventilator-associated pneumonia.
