Abstract:Bacterial liver abscess,a highly prevalent and severe infectious disease among hepatic infections, has undergone significant changes in predominant pathogens in recent years. In China and other Asian countries,Klebsiella pneumoniae has currently surpassed Escherichia coli to become the leading causative agent. The clinical management of Klebsiella pneumoniae faces multiple challenges due to its strong invasive capacity and increasing antibiotic resistance. This article comprehensively elaborates on the etiological characteristics, clinical features, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic strategies of Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess(KPLA).Furthermore,it prospectively highlights that ultrasound-guided percutaneous drainage combined with closed irrigation may potentially replace conventional interventional therapies for KPLA.This innovative approach is anticipated to shorten disease duration, reduce the complications, improve the prognosis, and decrease hospitalization costs while maintaining treatment efficacy, and is worthy to be spreaded clinically.
