Abstract:Cuproptosis is a unique and adjustable modality of cell death induced by copper (Cu2+/Cu+) ionophore, which is different from apoptosis, pyroptosis, autophagy and ferroptosis. This article reviews the metabolism of copper ions, the mechanism of cuproptosis,it's effects on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and related possible pathways in order to provide new ideas for the targeted study of cuproptosis to reduce cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, and provides new direction for the treatment of stroke in clinical.
