Abstract:Objective To analyze the current research status and development trends in the field of analgesic and sedative drugs for neurocritical care patients. Methods Using PubMed database as the literature data source, relevant literatures on analgesic and sedative drugs for neurocritical care patients published from 2013 to 2023 were searched on May 21,2024.CiteSpace 6.2 R6 software was used to visualize the countries (regions ),authors, keywords and terms included in the literatures. Results A total of 135 articles were included. The United States of America(38 articles),China(15 articles) and Canada(15 articles) ranked in the top three in terms of the number of publication. The authors with the highest number of publication were Citerio Giuseppe(4 articles),Busl Katharina M(3 articles) and Bellomo Rinaldo(3 articles). The top five keywords in terms of frequency were traumatic brain injury (25 times),neurocritical care (20 times),intracranial pressure (6 times),mechanical ventilation (6 times) and delirium (5 times). The top five terms in terms of frequency were neurocritical care (80 times),traumatic brain injury (63 times),prognosis (22 times),intracranial pressure (18 times) and dexmedetomidine (18 times). The term clustering analysis formed a total of 10 meaningful clusters, which can be summarized into four dimensions:the mechanism of action, drug type, application purpose and side effects of the drugs.Based on the terms bursting and timeline view, research hotspots mainly focused on delirium, mechanical ventilation, intracranial pressure and neurological function. Conclusions The research on analgesic and sedative drugs for neurocritical care continues to gain popularity. The main research drug types have shifted from benzodiazepines and propofol to dexmedetomidine. The research focus is still on the impact of analgesic and sedative drugs on neurological function and prognosis in neurocritical care patients.
