Abstract:Sepsis,a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by pathogenic microorganisms, often leads to multiple organ dysfunction with the lung being the most susceptible target organ. The incidence and the mortality of acute lung injury(ALI)are both high.As the most common mRNA modification,N6-methyladenosine(m6A)affects gene expression,mRNA stability and translation efficiency through the regulation of methyltransferases, demethyltransferases and methylation recognition proteins.Studies have shown that m6A modification plays an important role in sepsis-induced ALI,especially the expression changes of key enzymes such as methyltransferase like 3(METTL3)are closely related to the pathological process of ALI.The abnormal expression of related molecules leads to the dysregulation of m6A modification, which affects the development of ALI.This phenomenon suggests that m6A modification-related molecules may become potential targets or diagnostic markers for the treatment of sepsis-induced ALI.This article reviews the role of m6A modification in the development of sepsis-induced ALI in order to provide a comprehensive perspective for further understanding the role of m6A methylation in sepsis-induced ALI,and new ideas for optimizing treatment strategies and developing new drugs.
