Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between early postoperative blood glucose levels and the prognosis in the patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing mechanical thrombectomy within the first 7 days post-operation.Methods A total of 151 patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital,Capital Medical University from January 1,2021 to August 31,2023 were selected for research objects.Data of fasting blood glucose in the morning, blood glucose levels at 2 hours after breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the 1 st to the 7 th day post-operation were collected. The relationship between blood glucose levels during the first 7 days post-operation and the outcomes was investigated by using bivariate correlation analysis based on the modified Rankin scale(mRS)scores of 90 days post-operation.Results There were significant correlations of 90-day mRS scores with blood glucose levels on the 1st day(fasting P=0.028),the 2nd day(after lunch P=0.027),the 4th day(after breakfast P=0.014),the 5th day(after lunch P=0.006),and the 6th day(after breakfast P=0.043)post-operation.Conclusions Blood glucose control within the first 7 days post-operation significantly affects prognostic recovery of the patients, the higher blood glucose levels were significantly associated with poorer neurological function 90 days after the operation.Effective management strategies of blood glucose may provide the patients with more favorable conditions for recovery and the potential for improved outcomes.
