Abstract:Acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)/acute lung injury(ALI)is a clinical disease whose pathogenesis is caused by uncontrollable inflammatory response that leads to the damage of the alveolar barrier.During severe inflammation in the lungs, the destruction of the alveolar endothelial cells and epithelial cell barriers causes increased permeability of the microvascular barrier, which in turn leads to pulmonary edema. Therefore, the excessive generation of inflammatory mediators plays a key role in destroying the alveolar-capillary barrier and permeability.Silent information regulatory factor 2 related enzyme 1(SIRT1)can affect cell metabolism, gene transcription, apoptosis, inflammation and other aspects through the deacetylation of non-histone/histone to reduce the severity of lung injury. This article summarizes the recent research progress on the role of SIRT1 in various lung injury models in order to provide the new ideas for the treatment of ARDS/ALI by SIRT1.
