Abstract:Phosgene is extensively utilized in industrial manufacturing.Due to its high toxicity, the poisoning caused by phosgene leakage during production, storage and usage cannot be ignored.Acute exposure to phosgene can lead to respiratory depression, refractory pulmonary edema and other lung injury, with severe cases culminating in acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)even death.Acute phosgene poisoning exhibits high mortality rate, unfavorable prognosis, and absence of targeted therapeutic interventions. The inflammatory response plays an important role in this disease. This article reviews the involvement of the inflammatory response in the pathogenesis and treatment of phosgene-induced acute lung injury(P-ALI)/ARDS,summarizes potential signaling pathways, explores additional therapeutic targets, and also discusses the current advancements in anti-inflammatory therapy for P-ALI/ARDS.The aim is to facilitate the comprehension of recent research trends in the field of inflammation on P-ALI/ARDS for clinicians and researchers, and to offer the support for treatment strategies and the development of novel pharmaceutical interventions.
