Abstract:Despite improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis, the morbidity and the mortality of the patients in ICU remain unacceptable.Early clinical detection of sepsis is not yet fully achievable, and all we can do for the patients diagnosed with sepsis is to intervene in the continued progression of sepsis and reduce overall mortality. Therefore,we still need early identification of biomarkers that better predict sepsis outcome to help clinicians solve practical problems. In recent years,sepsis-related biomarkers have received wide attention. We now focus on a review of the latest research progress of monocyte distribution width(MDW),high mobility group box-1 protein(HMGB1),and oncostatin M(OSM)markers related to early diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis.
