Abstract:Sepsis is one of the most common critical diseases, its morbidity and mortality are still high in the world, timely diagnosis and treatment of sepsis has become an urgent problem to be solved.Competing endogenous RNA(ceRNA)refers to noncoding RNA(ncRNA)including long non-coding RNA(lncRNA),circular RNA(circRNA)and pseudogenes, which compete to bind microRNA(miRNA)through the same miRNA response elements(MRE),thereby regulating the expression of downstream target genes. Therefore,ceRNA,the regulatory mechanism of endogenous RNA,may be involved in the occurrence of sepsis and various other diseases when this mechanism is unbalanced. This review focuses on the molecular characteristics, important biological functions, and regulatory mechanisms of lncRNA,circRNA,and pseudogenes as ceRNA in the pathophysiology of sepsis, and discusses the difficulties and prospects of the application of ceRNA in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of sepsis due to their immature research. This is critical for accurately targeting sensitive and early biomarkers of sepsis as well as potential therapeutic targets, providing new clues for the timely diagnosis, treatment and regulation of sepsis.
