A practical study of the curriculum of ideological and political education in emergency medicine

Abstract:Objective To explore the application of the curriculum of ideological and political education in emergency medicine.Methods Medical students in the fifth to seventh year of the eighth year of clinical medicine at the Peking Union Medical College of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences were research objects.A self-administered questionnaire was distributed after the emergency medicine course was taught.The evaluation was based on the degree of medical students'understanding of the ideological and political courses,the rationality of the content and form of the ideological and political courses and the teaching effect,the practical necessity and improvement methods of the ideological and political courses.Results The emergency medicine course that integrated ideological and political education into the curriculum was well received by students(ideological and political content satisfaction rate 92.1%-100%),and it improved medical students'innovation ability,independent learning ability,teamwork ability and social responsibility(teaching effect satisfaction rate 92.1%-98.9%).However,medical students did not have a deep understanding of the ideological and political courses;the insufficient integration of clinical practical abilities,independent learning abilities and innovative thinking abilities was the disadvantages of the current medical ideological and political courses.Conclusions The ideological and political construction of emergency medicine courses is very necessary,and can be improved in the future by strengthening teacher training,guiding independent learning,increasing practical opportunities and conducting classroom discussion.
