Effect of L-carnitine on plasma H-FABP and 6MWT in emergency PCI patients due to acute myocardial infarction
Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of L - carnitine on content of heart fatty acid binding protein ( H -FABP ) and the influence on the recent prognosis in acute myocardial infarction ( AMI) patients with emergent PCI. Methods A total of 102 AMI patients with PCI were randomly divided into two groups, one was routine treatment group:treated with routine therapy;another was L-carnitine treatment group:treated with L-carnitine every day on the basis of above routine treatment. H-FABP, CK-MB, cTnI concentrations, LVEF and 6 -minute walk test(6MWT) were compared between the two groups. Results The difference of plasma heart -type fatty acid -binding proteins (H-FABP), creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB), cardiac troponin I(cTnI)level and left ventricle ejection fraction ( LVEF ) was statistically significant ( P < 0. 05 ) in two groups. Walking distance evaluated by 6MWT was significantly higher in L - carnitine treatment group after three months of follow- up. Conclusion L - carnitine shows protective effect against the ischemia injury in cardiomyocytes and improves cardiac function for the emergency PCI patients with ST - elevation myocardial infarction.
