Statin use in special populations

Abstract：At present, statins are widely used in atherosclerotic diseases because of their anti-in?flammatory and reduction of cholesterol levels effects, especially in primary and secondary prevention of coronary atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD). But its application related side effects, such as statin-related myonosus, liver injury, increased type 2 diabetes mellitus, increased kidney damage and so on, leading the application of statins into a low ebb once. Especially in special populations, such as women, the elderly, patients with diabetes, chronic kidney disease patients, the value of the applica?tion is more to be discussed. This article will review the application of statins in the special population.
