Abstract:Objective Chromogranin A(CHGA) is a biomarker of prognostic of critically ill patients, and the mechanism necessary to be further elucidated. This study aim to investigate the correlation between CHGA and myocardial injury biomarkers in sepsis. Methods Totally 143 sepsis patients from our ICU were recruited, and divided into 3 groups: the sepsis group, sever sepsis group and septic shock group. The generally mortality rate, concentration of plasma CHGA and APACHE Ⅱwere compared in 3 groups, and the correlation between CHGA and myocardial injury biomarkers, APACHE Ⅱ were analyzed. Result ① The plasma CHGA concentration in septic shock patient was significantly higher than in sepsis and sever sepsis group, meanwhile the plasma CHGA concentration in sever sepsis group was significantly higher than that in sepsis group(P<0. 05);②A positive correlation existed between CHGA and APACHEⅡscore, plasma Mb,cTnI, NT-proBNP (r=0. 270,0. 48,0. 294 and 0. 348, respectively P <0. 05 ); ③ The concentration of plasma CHGA, Mb, NT - proBNP and APACHE Ⅱ score were significantly higher in death group ( 37 patients ) than in survival group ( P<0. 05). Conclusion Our study confirm that CHAG is a biomarker for severity of sepsis. A positive correlation exited between CHGA and plasma Mb, cTnI, NT - proBNP. It indicated that CHGA participated in the pathophysiological process in septic myocardial dysfunction.
