Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of low molecular weight heparin on nerve function recovery in patients with severe craniocerebral .Methods A total of 216 severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients who received heparin from 2010 to 2013 in our hospital were divided into three groups:early group (<3 days, n=70), middle group (3~5 days, n=68), late group ( >5 days, n=78), respectively according to the time of heparin used .Glasgow Coma Score , head injury score , injury score, whether treated by dehydration therapy , whether received emergency neural operation and the incidence of delayed venous thromboembolism were recorded .Changes of brain function and brain injury imaging were also observed . Results The three groups showed similar clinical and imaging characteristics (P>0.05).Ten days after treatment, head CT showed that secondary brain injury in early treatment group was the lightest and with the fastest recovery of nerve function among the three groups. Conclusion Treatment of heparin during the early stage of TBI has neuroprotective effects .
