Abstract:Objective To observe acute kidney injury ( AKI ) and its relationship with prognosis in moderate and severe traumatic brain injury ( TBI) patients and find out the risk factors of acute renal dysfunction in patients with TBI .Methods From January 2013 to December 2014 , a total of 31 TBI patients with brain injury , Glasgow Coma Scale ( GCS ) score <13 and age over 16 were treated.General information and renal function classified by the RIFLE standard were collected and the data were retrospectively analyzed. Results The incidence rate of AKI was 9.2% (19/207).The hospital mortality of AKI patients was 42.1%while the mortality of non -AKI patient was 18.1%.By multivariate analysis we found that the incidence rate of AKI were collected with age (P<0.001) about APACHEⅢ, and higher APACHEⅢ score companied with higher AKI incidence ( P =0.016 ). Conclusion AKI is more common in TBI patients , and renal function damage is often the initial factor of multiple organ failure and mortality in patients with TBI .TBI patients complicated with AKI show a higher mortality, so it is necessary for treatment of traumatic brain injury to maintain the normal function of the kidney .
