Significance of modified early warning score in condition assessment and death prognosis of heat stroke patients
Abstract:Objective To explore the significance of modified early warning score (MEWS) in condition assessment and death prognosis of heat stroke ( HS) patients. Methods Prospective and observational studies , including 45 HS patients treated by the emergency doctors , were performed .The MEWS and APACHEⅡscore of the HS patients were calculated .The obtaining time of the two scores was recorded individually and compared .Correlation analysis and ROC curve analysis of the two scores were performed. Results Compared to APACHE Ⅱ score, the obtaining time of MEWS was significantly shortened (P<0.05).The two scores were positively correlated (P <0.05); Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.854.Both of the two scores had capacity to evaluate the death prognosis of HS patients (P<0.05).But, there was no statistical significance between the two scores (P>0.05). Conclusion Significance of MEWS in condition assessment and death prognosis of HS patients is similar to APACHEⅡscore, but MEWS is facilitated to be used in department of emergency because of its simpleness and short obtaining time .
