Effect of Xuebijing Injection on IL-6, IL-8 in patiens with the acute renal failure

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of Xuebijing Injection on plasma interleukin -6 (IL-6) and interleukin -8 (IL -8) in patients with the acute renal failure (ARF), and reveal important clinical significance of Xuebijing Injection in ARF treatment . Methods Seventy three patients with ARF hospitalized from February to December 2012 , were randomly divided into two groups , including control group ( n =35 ) and treatment group ( n =38 ) .Patients in control group received therapy with single western medicine , and patients in treatment group were treated with same western medicine and Xuebijing Injection .IL-6 and IL-8 content in plasma were measured after 1 week and 2 weeks of treatment .Results Compared with the control group , IL -6 and IL -8 content of the treatment group decreased significantly after 1 week of treatment ( P <0.05 ), and decreased more significantly after 2 weeks of treatment (P <0.01).Plasma IL -6 and IL -8 in all patients were decreased by the treatment compared to those from the basal line levels .Conclusion Western medicine combined with Xuebijing Injection can more effectively decrease systemic inflammatory response syndrome ( SIRS) , improve the cure rate and decrease mortality rate for the patients with ARF .
