Clinical study on the antihypertensive effect of lacidipine

Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy and side effects of lacidipine on the patients with essential hypertension. Method The total patients from 33 hospitals in 5 cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang, Harbin and Guangzhou, attended the clinical trial. The results of the 5 clinical centres were comprehensive evaluated with Meta - analysis. Result The level of systolic blood pressure was reduced by 28mmHg,and the diastolic blood pressure decreased by 15 mmHg with lacidipine therapy in 6 weeks later. Dizziness,headache,palpitation and flushing are more common side effects,but most symptoms were mild though 1.3% of all cases withdrew this trial. The laboratory testing had no significant changes. Conclusion Lacidipine is safe and effective as an antihypertensive drug.
