Study of the change of IL-1β in patients with congestive heart failure and effect of lidocaine on the production of the IL-1 β in vitro
Abstract：Objectives To examine the change of serum interleukins (IL)-1β in patients with congestve heart failure(CHF) and the effect of lidocaine on the prodution of IL-1β in vitro.Methods Food fasting blood of both healthy volunteers(n=20),and CHF patients(n=20) were obtained in the morning.Serum IL-1β was measured by an Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) were obtained from both the control and the patients group.PBMC were cultured with 0,0.1，1 and 10 mmol/L of lidocine in the presence of lipopolysaccharide.After 24 hours'incubation,IL-1 β was measured in the culture supernatants by an ELISA.Results Serum IL-1β was significantly higher than that of the control group(P＜0.001)，and the higher the heart failure degree,the higher the level of IL- 1β (P＜0.001).No effect was found of lidocaine on the production of IL-1β in the two groups.Conclusion IL-1β may play an importan trole in the pathogenesis of CHF.
