Protective effect of Radix Salvia Miltiorrhiza on lung injury after lower limb ischemic reperfusion
Abstract:Objective An experimental study to observe protective effect of Radix Salvia Miltiorrhiza (RSM) on lung injury after lower limb ischemic reperfusion. Methods Eighty rats were divided into control group, ischemia 3 hours group and ischemia 3 hours group treated with RSM.The histological assessment of lung were undertaken at 0,1,2,3,and 24 hours after reperfusion. Results It was found that pulmonary edema, microvascular congestion, infiltrating of large amount of polymorphonuclear neutrophil(PMN) and partial pulmonary collaps were found in experimental groups at 0,1,2,3 and 24 hours after reperfusion. There was a significant lessening of the pulmonary injury in group treated with RSM.Conclusion These data suggest that RSM can alleviat the pulmonary injury after lower limb ischemic reperfusion injury.
